About

Dr. Arnette’s practice has been in all forms of dentoalveolar surgery. He’s well versed in many forms of pathology, including sedation dentistry, and TMJ.

Dr Arnette’s hobbies include, weight lifting, jogging and swimming. He especially loves spending time with his family, camping has become one of their regular activities. Dr. Arnette enjoys competitive shooting and has competed in competitions all over the world for decades.

He is excited to be joining North Carolina Oral Surgery + Orthodontics.

About

Dr. Poolak Bhatt is originally from Mississauga, Ontario, Canada, and comes from a family deeply rooted in healthcare. His father is a general dentist, his mother is a dental hygienist, and his sister is a cardiologist. He completed his undergraduate studies at McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario, before earning his dental degree from the University of Pennsylvania. He went on to complete both his medical degree and oral and maxillofacial surgery residency at the University of North Carolina. He is board-certified by the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (ABOMS).

For the past several years, Dr. Bhatt worked at Guthrie Robert Packer Hospital, a rural Level 1 trauma center in Sayre, Pennsylvania. His practice ranged from routine extraction procedures and IV sedation to managing complex cranio-maxillofacial trauma and benign/malignant pathology of the head and neck.

Dr. Bhatt now lives in the Durham area with his significant other, Susan, who is currently an oral and maxillofacial surgery resident. He values family and loves traveling with his loved ones. Together, they enjoy trying new cuisines, cooking at home, and spending time with their five rescue cats.

Outside of surgery, Dr. Bhatt holds a black belt in taekwondo and enjoys discovering new music across a variety of genres. He is deeply committed to surgical education, both in teaching residents and in his own continuing development as a clinician. He believes in lifelong learning and strives to grow his knowledge and skills every day. He is excited to be back in North Carolina and is committed to serving patients in the community with compassionate, high-quality surgical care.

About

Dr. Thomas “Tom” Brader was born and raised in Raleigh, NC.   He is thrilled to be able to practice oral surgery in the city that he loves. Dr. Brader grew up as one of five kids in a house divided between NC State and UNC-Chapel Hill but he’s always been true to that Carolina Blue. He considers himself a “triple Tarheel” – attending UNC for college (2013), dental school (2017) and then stuck around for six more years to complete his residency in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (2023).

Dr. Brader met his wife, Rachel, during junior year of college and after 14 years in Chapel Hill, they’ve finally moved back to Raleigh with our dog, Lilly. In his spare time, Dr. Brader enjoys traveling, skiing, golfing, pickleball and trying new places to eat.

About

Dr. Adam Bussell was born in New Ulm, Minnesota but grew up in San Diego, California where he attended both high school and college. With a long-standing interest in medicine and military service he attended the University of Maryland School of Dentistry on a Navy scholarship.

Dr. Bussell spent ten years in the United States Navy. He began his career with a one-year Advanced Education in General Dentistry program. He went on to complete a general dentistry operational tour with the 1st Marine Expeditionary Force at Camp Pendleton. He then completed four years of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery training at Naval Medical Center San Diego. The conclusion of this training brought about another operational tour on the USS Ronald Reagan to the South China Sea, and three years practicing full-scope Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery after relocating to Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. Dr. Bussell’s practice was all encompassing to include facial trauma, corrective jaw surgery, and facial cosmetics.

Dr. Bussell has a wonderful family at home with three children. They reside in Jacksonville, NC and are proud to call North Carolina their home. The Bussells are an active crew and they enjoy sports and the outdoors.

About

Dr. Ryan Costner was raised in Hope Mills, NC. After high school, he served a two-year mission for his church in Hawaii and the Republic of Kiribati. Shortly after returning home he married his wife, Lacey, and began his undergraduate education.

Dr. Costner completed a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Brigham Young University and received his Doctor of Dental Surgery (D.D.S.) from Virginia Commonwealth University. He then completed two surgical internships, first with the University of Iowa Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and then with the University of Missouri – Kansas City Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.

He recently relocated to Whispering Pines with his wife and four children. In his free time, Dr. Costner prefers to spend time with his family, exercise, woodworking, and travel. He is excited to be joining North Carolina Oral Surgery + Orthodontics.

About

Dr. Paul Geunes was born and raised in Pennsylvania where he attended college and dental school. He spent four years in Tennessee for his residency in Oral Surgery. He then practiced in Rhode Island for over 25 years where he was perennially selected as a Rhode Island Monthly Top Dentist by his colleagues.  

Dr. Geunes limits his practice to office procedures for adults and adolescents including extractions, removal of wisdom teeth, and dental implant reconstruction. He offers several methods of anesthesia for the anxious patient including local anesthesia, oral sedation, nitrous oxides analgesia (laughing gas), I.V. sedation (twilight sleep), or a combination of these methods.  

Dr. Geunes enjoys spending time with his wife Karin, their 5 children, and 2 dogs. He was the MVP of his high school basketball team (Glory Days!), played Division III college basketball, and is an avid New England Patriots fan.

About

Dr. Greg Taylor grew up in Winston-Salem and comes from a healthcare background. His mother was a family physician, and his father was a general dentist. He earned his DDS in 1993 from the University of North Carolina and went on to complete his Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery residency at Virginia Commonwealth University in 1997.

Dr. Taylor spent 17 years living and working in Hong Kong before returning to the United States in 2024. He has a passion for travel and enjoys experiencing new cultures. He is also committed to giving back and has performed volunteer oral surgery in rural China and Cambodia. Exercise plays a major role in his free time—he has completed 11 marathons and is a three-time Ironman Triathlon finisher. A drummer since the age of 10, he enjoys playing in bands and most recently performed with a grunge cover band while living in Hong Kong.

A proud father of two, Dr. Taylor’s daughter is a sophomore at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, and his son is a sophomore in high school.
