About

Dr. Al Abdullah’s journey from Baghdad, Iraq to becoming a skilled orthodontist in the United States is nothing short of inspiring. After earning his first dental degree and practicing in Iraq, he moved to the U.S. in 2016 to pursue his passion for dentistry. Starting as a dental hygienist, he quickly advanced to earn his Doctor of Dental Medicine (D.M.D.) with honors from the Ivy League’s University of Pennsylvania.

At Penn, Dr. Al Abdullah’s dedication and excellence were recognized with membership in the prestigious Omicron Kappa Upsilon and Matthew Cryer Honor Societies, along with the American Equilibration Society Award for his outstanding work in occlusion and TMJ care. He then completed his orthodontic residency at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV), earning a master’s degree in Oral Biology.

Dr. Al Abdullah is thrilled to be part of the NCOSO family, where he is passionate about helping patients achieve their dream smiles. For him, orthodontics is more than just straightening teeth—it’s about boosting confidence, creating lasting change, and helping patients feel their best. He’s committed to providing personalized, compassionate care and building meaningful relationships with every patient.

Outside the office, Dr. Al Abdullah loves spending time with his wife and two daughters. Family is everything to him, and they enjoy exploring new places and making memories together. A soccer enthusiast and fitness lover, Dr. Al Abdullah is always active, whether on the field, at the gym, or unwinding with a good show.

About

Dr. Ashley Albrecht grew up outside of Charleston, South Carolina. She attended Clemson University graduating Summa Cum Laude. She then attended dental school at the Medical University of South Carolina, where she graduated as Second Honor Grad.  Dr. Albrecht went on to complete a three-year residency in orthodontics, receiving a Master’s of Science in Dentistry and Certificate in Orthodontics. She served as chief resident.

After residency, Dr. Albrecht has worked several years as an associate orthodontist in private practice and achieved board certification. She is a diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics.

Outside the office, Dr. Albrecht and her husband, Justin, have two young children, Jack and Harper, and a dog named Rooster. The family enjoys outdoor activities, visiting the beaches and spending time with family.

Dr. Baumann loves everything good and wholesome in life, which extends to treating you or your family. She works for you with enthusiasm, optimism, and an eye toward perfection, modified to meet your personal orthodontic goals. After over 30 years of treating patients, she’s fine-tuned her abilities and chairside communication skills to treat all with skill, care, gentleness, and humility, recognizing the great privilege it is to treat patients.

She is a dual specialist in Orthodontics and Children’s Dentistry from UCLA and is a friend to those with Special Needs. In addition to over 30 years of private practice in California, New Hampshire and Arkansas. She has worked for several years at Arkansas Children’s Hospital, treating the most difficult cases, including newborns with clefts! She also started a professional dental study club, a chess club, taught orthodontics at Western University in California, worked as an Orthodontic Claims Processor for Medicaid and is an Orthodontic Consultant for the California State Board of Dental Examiners.

About

Dr. Tyler Hart was raised in the mountains of Utah and received a BS in Microbiology from Brigham Young University. He received his dental degree from Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, VA where he met his wife, Jana. He then practiced general dentistry in Texas for two years. He continued his education in Upstate New York with a two-year fellowship in Orofacial Pain and Temporomandibular Disorders at the University of Rochester. He stayed in Rochester for an additional two-year residency in Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics and now is thankful to call North Carolina home.

He is married with four adorable and rambunctious children, Faelyn, Lexi, Ellery, and Tate. He loves running, cycling, being outside camping, hiking with his family, and volunteering at church. Three things that most people may not know about him are he can play the William Tell Overture on his buccinator muscles, he was once vaccinated against Anthrax, and he won silverware and a trip to Portugal on The Price is Right. Come On Down!

About

Dr. Nathan Kryn studied at North Carolina State University and went on to receive his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the State University of New York at Buffalo. He graduated first in his class with the highest honor of Summa Cum Laude.

Dr. Kryn was awarded his Orthodontic Certificate and Master of Science in Dentistry from the University of Colorado Denver. Throughout his educational career, Dr. Kryn’s academic excellence was rewarded with numerous awards and scholarships. During his Orthodontic residency training, Dr. Kryn participated in various studies involving the very latest advancements in orthodontics as well as completing a professional research project in the field of Biomaterials.

Dr. Kryn is a member of the American Association of Orthodontists, the Southern Association of Orthodontists, and the North Carolina Association of Orthodontists. During his training he received advanced certification in Invisalign clear braces treatment, training in The Damon System self-ligating orthodontic appliances and temporary anchorage devices (mini-screws), as well as attended numerous lectures on the latest advancements in orthodontics.

Dr. Kryn enjoys enhancing his orthodontic knowledge by pursuing the most advanced proven techniques the orthodontic profession has to offer. In return, Dr. Kryn is able to provide his patients with the best of care in a relaxed and compassionate manner. Dr. Kryn is actively involved with many church and community projects. He also enjoys recreational running, calisthenics, playing the piano, cooking and is a car enthusiast. Dr. Kryn, his wife, and daughter enjoy spending family time together as well as visiting new places.

About

Dr. Rita McGrogan spent 3 years at the University of Pittsburgh for her undergraduate studies where she excelled and gained early admittance to dental school.  She then attended the University of Pittsburgh, School of Dental Medicine where she graduated in the top 10 of her class and received several awards for her research in the mechanisms of tooth eruption. 

Having developed a passion for orthodontics, Dr. McGrogan went on to complete a 3-year orthodontic residency at the University of Maryland while also earning her Master of Science in Oral Biology. She then returned to Pittsburgh, PA where she went on to own her highly successful orthodontic private practice for over 15 years. 

Dr. McGrogan and her husband, Jeff, always knew their futures weren’t tied to Pittsburgh forever and after an extensive search fell in love with the Raleigh area. They and their 5 children (plus 2 dogs and 1 cat) have recently relocated to North Carolina and are thrilled to be here and to be part of North Carolina Oral Surgery + Orthodontics! 

Away from the office, Dr. McGrogan enjoys running, biking, gardening and is trying to become a golfer.  However, her greatest pleasure comes from spending time with her family and cheering them on in their (many) activities!
