Goodbye Impressions, Hello iTero Scanner

FOR A LONG TIME, dental impressions have been many patients’ least favorite part of getting orthodontic treatment. Luckily, impressions are a thing of the past, because modern technology has given us a better way to get a 3-D map of patients’ dental arches! The new & improved way that doesn’t use goopy molds is the iTero Scanner.

What The iTero Scanner Does

An iTero Scanner is a modern approach to dental molds in which our digital machine can take multiple images of your teeth and archway at once. This avoids having to use any traditional mold options that are sometimes uncomfortable, sticky, and leave an undesirable taste in your mouth.

Take a look at the photo below to see how our iTero scanner works in our office.

Patients get to sit comfortably while an assistant or Orthodontist scans each tooth. The process is repeated until the entire upper arch and lower arch are digitally scanned into our system. Once the digital format has rendered, the Orthodontist is able to maneuver the entire image so that they can show the patient any adjustments before the orthodontic treatment has begun.
