What to Expect at Your Child’s First Orthodontic Visit
When visiting us during the initial consultation and evaluation we will:
- Review your child’s dental and medical history forms
- Perform a complete oral exam, with X-rays, to determine whether treatment is necessary
- Help you create a customized treatment plan for your child
- Discuss all financial information, insurance options, and payment plans

Following your initial consultation, our team will schedule your child’s first bonding appointment with NCOSO according to your schedule! During the first appointment, our orthodontists will be able to introduce and place your child’s new orthodontic appliance or have your child fit for Invisalign. This first appointment generally takes about an hour, and during this time our team will be available to make sure your child’s experience is as comfortable and enjoyable as possible.

Expose & Bond Treatment at NCOSO
Our practice offers Expose and Bond treatment for children in the Triangle and Triad NC area to help pull certain teeth into place. An expose and bond is a technique involved in aiding the eruption of any impacted tooth in the upper or lower jaw, but most commonly they are applied to the maxillary canine teeth.
Early recognition of an impacted canine tooth is the key to successful treatment. The older the patient, the more likely an impacted eyetooth will not erupt by nature’s forces alone, even if space is available for the tooth to fit in the dental arch. First, the impacted tooth is exposed. Then a bracket is bonded to the tooth which can be pulled slowly over time into place.
